FORTUNETELLER

News, views and everything TFFC by Nigel Kyte

Welcome to issue 20 of the newsletter
Before I cover Temple Fortune's matches played on Sunday 20th November, a word about training. The Club has hired a third of the 3G pitch at Rowley Lane for training sessions each Tuesday evening. It is a facility to help with fitness and is open to ALL Club Members, not just the First Team players. Gone are the days of us holding training in some dingy small hall or a gravel pitch under inadequate lights. The 3G pitch at London Maccabi is one of the best anywhere under excellent floodlights. We hire a third with ample space to accommodate those who attend. In recent weeks we have had to cancel three times because of lack of numbers. I think it is a great shame that Second Teamers in particular do not take advantage of our training sessions. There will come a time when the facility will be cancelled if it is not utilised so the message is pretty clear here: we have just booked another five weeks at London Maccabi so PLEASE make every effort to attend.

Moving onto the playing side, the FIRST TEAM played promotion-challengers CHIGWELL ATHLETIC at The Hive and came out of a very competitive match with a decent 3-3 draw. With the fog putting play into serious doubt at the beginning, it cleared sufficiently to allow a very good game to be played out, watched by MSFL Chairman David Wolff who summarised it as being a "very enjoyable match". In a hard-fought first half, Fortune led 1-0 at the interval through JASON MILLER but the visitors came back to score twice in the second period. Fortune battled back to win a penalty which JASON thumped home to make the score 2-2. Then JON FISHER collected the ball some 25 yards out to hit a sumptuous shot into the bottom right corner to put Fortune ahead for the second time with 15 minutes remaining. Unfortunately, the home side could not hold out and conceded a third goal which gave Chigwell the share of the points. Said Lee Fegan: "A good competitive game which we could have snatched against very good opposition. Even though we finished up drawing I was proud of the boys for their battling and committed performance. We had the chances to win it but then again Chigwell had their moments too." The draw (the fourth tied league/cup fixture in succession) extended the First Team's unbeaten run to five competitive matches, and was their fourth match at The Hive without defeat (including the Woodford fixture).

The
SECOND TEAM took on the recently-revitalised JEWVENTUS side at Chase Lodge and put an end to their winning run by coming away with an impressive 4-1 victory. In what Adam Glekin called "a very good performance", the Seconds battled to overcome Jewve thanks to goals by DEAN INGRAM (2), JOEY GLYNNE and leading goalscorer TERRY JEFFRIES. The win keeps the Second Team in third place in Division Four.

The
OLD BOYS TEAM finally ended a gloomy sequence of five consecutive defeats by beating CLAYHALL PARK CASUALS at Gosling Sports Park. The welcomed 5-0 victory recorded only their second league win of the season. Moroccan striker YALI MAMOURI scored his third hat-trick of the campaign, with the other goals coming from ALAN HAROUNOFF and JAMES RYAN. The victory moved Temple Fortune Old Boys into 8th place in the 10-team division.

'THE FORTUNE NEWS' BACK ISSUES
A reminder that you can read back issues of this season's newsletter if you have missed any. At the bottom of the second column on the right you will find links for all 19 previous issues. Please let me know if any do not open.

SAUL STERN LEAVING TEMPLE FORTUNE
Second Team striker SAUL STERN has been released by the Club. Saul joined Temple Fortune at the beginning of the season but injuries have restricted his involvement with the Seconds. He made his one starting appearance in the first pre-season friendly against L'Equipe in August and scored the first goal of the 2011/12 season but has only played in 3 games since, all as sub. We wish Saul the best of luck for the remainder of the season.

PUNCTUALITY ESSENTIAL
Another reminder that you are requested to be at the venue NO LATER than 30 minutes before the kick-off. Anything after that is LATE. This applies to all three of our teams and fines will be imposed on repeated late-comers. Please take the time to click here and read the information carefully. LATE PLAYERS will continue to be named and shamed on this page in future and fines/suspensions will be imposed as necessary.

TFFC TRAINING ON TUESDAY: PLEASE ATTEND!
MIDWEEK TRAINING CONTINUES ON TUESDAY AT LONDON MACCABI LIONS SPORTS GROUND, ROWLEY LANE, BARNET, AT 9PM. As you know, the Club has booked a third of the excellent London Maccabi Lions 3G pitch on Tuesday evenings at 9pm for an hour so please make every effort to attend. There will be a separate fee for training which can be paid in two installments or as 'pay and play' on the night (which will a dearer way of paying). Please email Jack Morris to confirm your attendance and to arrange your installment payment. The 3G takes moulded boots or astro trainers but not screw-in studs. If you are attending, please be there ON TIME.

NEW DISCIPLINARY PAGE ON WEBSITE
To maintain a record of suspensions, I have introduced a new feature on the website which is as clear-cut to follow as anything. The disciplinary table will show each player sent off and suspended alongside a week-by-week calendar, with suspensions clearly marked in addition to fines, yellow cards, payments received or outstanding. And Club fines will be logged as well. The table provides a very useful reference for Team Secretaries monitoring a player's availability when suspended. To get to the page, click on any of the Team Page links shown above in the 'Fortune Pre-Seasons' panel, and then click on 'DISCIPLINARY TABLE'.

ABUSE THE REF MEANS A FOUR MATCH BAN
The Club will be making a point of drumming into all our players that abusing a match official will NOT be tolerated and will earn any offender a ban of FOUR MATCHES. A reminder will be emailed from time to time to everyone in the shape of examples of things you could say to a referee and be sent off. Some of the jpegs you will find amusing but the serious message is always the same – ABUSE THE REF = FOUR MATCH BAN.

MACCABI FOOTBALL REVIEW
MSFL review by Danny Caro, www.thejc.com/msfl
MSFL FIRST DIVISION
NORTH WEST NEASDEN 'B' 5, NORSTAR 'A' 2
One of the shocks of the day saw Neasden 'B' inflict a first league defeat of the season on leaders Norstar 'A'. David Shamash and Adam Kaldor netted for Norstar.
REDBRIDGE JC 'B' 6, SOUTHGATE HARMEN 'B' 0
A second consecutive hat-trick from the red-hot DAN ORGEL helped Redbridge 'B' extend their unbeaten league run to six matches as they hit Harmen for six at Fairlop. Further strikes from Mark Zealander (2) and Harrison Grant completed the rout.
WOODFORD WANDERERS 3, OAKWOOD 1
Woodford claimed their first league win of the season with an impressive 3-1 victory over promotion-seeking Oakwood.

MSFL FOURTH DIVISION
BOCA JEWNIORS 0, NORTH LONDON RAIDERS 'C' 6
A Nikcy Woolf hat-trick helped Division Four leaders Raiders 'C' make it eight out of eight as they blew Boca away.
BRIXTON OLD BOYS 'B' 3, ATHLETIC BILBAUM 8
Hat-tricks from Edward Green and Bier helped the Bilbaum boys register their fifth league win over the season as they boosted their promotion charge with a big win at Brixton 'B'. Further strikes from Berkley and Gilbert put the icing on the cake.
FC TEAM 'C' 3, ATHLETICO FINCHLEY 0
Strikes from Cohen, Dave Wexler and Cooper put FC Team back in the promotion mix as they proved too strong for Athletico.
SPEC 2, BRADY MACCABI 'B' 3
Goals from Dan Hildebrand (2) and Kay saw Brady B maintain their perfect league record following a five-goal thriller over promotion rivals SPEC in Hatfield. Pike and Cohen were the scorers for SPEC FC.

MASTERS SECOND DIVISION
Glenthorne 'B' made it seven wins in seven and moved back to the top of Division 2 after recording a 6-1 win over third-placed Brady 'B'. Gary Swerner scored twice, with Adam Lennard, a Ray Russell penalty, Adam Hart and David Galman all on target. Malcolm Hershman netted Brady's solitary consolation.
EDRS Stonegrove beat Marshside 5-1 thanks to Phil Silver's double, along with efforts from Tony Platman - from the penalty spot - Barry Abraham and Martin Seifert. Marshside's late consolation came from guest Johnny Mansoor.
