Welcome to issue 13 of the newsletter
The SECOND TEAM returned to league action by impressively defeating BRIXTON OLD BOYS 'B' 11-2 at Clowes to record their highest victory since 1998 when AC Gants Hill were beaten 12-1 in a Division 5 fixture. Manager TERRY JEFFRIES scored five goals and newcomer JOEY GLYNNE four as Fortune outplayed the hosts. BEN DAVID and DAVID SAWYER completed the scoring. This is the Second Team's fourth highest league win in 20 years of competing in the MSFL and only the fifth time double figures have been reached. Fortune Chairman Nigel Kyte Said: "One of the Second Team's best ever results. TJ, Joey Glynne and David Sawyer have scored in every game they've played and the team is looking very strong. It's a vast improvement on last season to say the least."

The FIRST TEAM played SOUTHGATE HARMEN 'B' on the 3G at The Hive and recorded a 2-2 draw. Fortune twice took the lead through a headed MATT GILBERY goal and a great solo ROB BENSON effort but were pegged back by a decent Harmen team. Said manager Lee Fegan: "As much as I would have liked to have won, it was a fair result so no complaints from me. Steven Murad played very well in goal for us. He made one breath-taking save and deserves the plaudits."

The OLD BOYS TEAM were in action against EDRS STONEGROVE at the Thomas Parmiters Sports Centre and were beaten 7-3. YALI MAMOURI scored his second consecutive hat-trick but it wasn't good enough against the second-placed team in the division.

INTER-CLUB QUIZ STARTING SOON
It's that time of the year when the Club's popular football quiz starts - for the TENTH season! It's free to enter and there will be a trophy presented at the Club Awards Lunch next June plus an inclusion in the Quiz honours list on the website for all time!

Sixty-four Club Members (who were paid-up before 25th September) and certain invited guests have been paired off in Round One and will be emailed 25 questions on Sunday 9th October. Any new members joining this week, or any non-members (other than invited guests) have been excluded. The full Round One draw can be found here. And the main Quiz page here.

The onus is on the participant to take part and submit his or her answers – including a tie-break answer – by midnight on Monday 10th October. His or her tally of correct answers will be matched against the score of his or her opponent and the person with the highest points will progress into the next round.

Should someone not bother to submit an entry by the deadline stipulated, his or her score will be recorded as nil; if both players in any one tie do not enter, one will progress by a toss of a coin. If two participants who submit entries are level on points, the tie-break will come into operation. The competition will continue with paired-off ties until two eventually reach the Final.

The current Quiz champion is the First Team's JONATHAN COHEN who defeated former Old Boys player PHIL FRIEND by 17-11 in last season's Final. Other former Quiz champs include DEAN INGRAM from the Second Team and DAVID GOLDBERG of the Old Boys Team.

The questions next week will be pretty easy but they do get harder as the competition progresses! So check to see who your opponent is and look out for the Round One email which will be sent on Sunday 9th October. Please make every effort to take part!

RED CARD CAMPAIGN OFF AND RUNNING
The Club will be making a point of drumming into all our players that abusing a match official will NOT be tolerated and will earn any offender a ban of FOUR MATCHES. A reminder will be emailed every Friday to everyone in the shape of examples of things you could say to a referee and be sent off. Last week the campaign should have started but because of ongoing admin issues, has been delayed until the week coming. Some ofmthe jpegs you will find amusing but the serious message is always the same – ABUSE THE REF = FOUR MATCH BAN.

TRAINING ON TUESDAY
MIDWEEK TRAINING
CONTINUES ON TUESDAY AT LONDON MACCABI LIONS SPORTS GROUND, ROWLEY LANE, BARNET, AT 9PM.
As you know, the Club has booked a third of the excellent London Maccabi Lions 3G pitch on Tuesday evenings at 9pm for an hour so please make every effort to attend. There will be a separate fee for training which can be paid in two installments or as 'pay and play' on the night (which will a dearer way of paying). Please email Jack Morris to confirm your attendance and to arrange your installment payment. The 3G takes moulded boots or astro trainers but not screw-in studs. If you are attending, please be there ON TIME.

LEE SPELLS OUT THE NEED TO ATTEND TRAINING
Extracted from an email by Lee Fegam First Team Secretary: "With regards to training, we have over 20 players signed up for the First Team this season and I hate to state the obvious but only 11 players can start a game for us. SO if you want to keep your place in the team or work your way into the team then TRAINING is a chance to impress the management. If you have not already paid for the first instalments of training then please do so THIS WEEK. Please don’t make it easy for us to not include you in our squad for Sunday’s game. Get on board and show us that you want to play every week and keep up this winning momentum."

PUNCTUALITY IS A MUST
The Old Boys did not get off to the best start in the opening friendly last week against Clayhall both on and off the field of play. Several players arrived late. This is a timely reminder that you are requested to be at the venue NO LATER than 30 minutes before the kick-off. Anything after that is LATE. This applies to all three of our teams and fines will be imposed on repeated late-comers. Lateness affects the team preparation and is NOT acceptable. Please take the time to click here and read the information carefully. LATE PLAYERS will be named and shamed on this page in future.

THE TFN FANTASY LEAGUE, 2011/12: YOU CAN STILL ENTER
A reminder that we are running a new season of TFN FANTASY LEAGUE for the 2011/12 season, which will be our SEVENTH annual competition. It's easy to enter on the fantasy.premierleague.com website. In choosing a suitable name, you MUST use Upper and Lower case for both YOUR name (as manager) and the TEAM name – 'Super Stars' is correct, 'super stars' or 'SUPER STARS' is wrong. Any manager or team name which does not follow this will be deleted. Once you have formed your team and chosen the squad, go to LEAGUES, click on 'Join a league', then 'Private league' and enter the following Private League code: 57173-21943. There willl be a trophy at the end of the season and all-time listing on the Club' website as a CHAMPION! Last season we had a record entry of 37 people so come on, give it a go!

NEW DISCIPLINARY PAGE ON WEBSITE
To maintain a record of suspensions, I have introduced a new feature on the website which is as clear-cut to follow as anything. The disciplinary table will show each player sent off and suspended alongside a week-by-week calendar, with suspensions clearly marked in addition to fines, yellow cards, payments received or outstanding. And Club fines will be logged as well. The table provides a very useful reference for Team Secretaries monitoring a player's availability when suspended. To get to the page, click on any of the Team Page links shown above in the 'Fortune Pre-Seasons' panel, and then click on 'DISCIPLINARY TABLE'.

MACCABI FOOTBALL REVIEW
MSFL review by Danny Caro, Masters review by Jeremy Silverstone
MSFL FIRST DIVISION
CHIGWELL ATHLETIC 5, NORTH WEST NEASDEN 'B' 1
Chigwell hit five goals for the second week in a row to run out worthy winners in Walthamstow. After a goalless first half, Richard Slater's men ran riot in the second half with striker Glenn Michaels named man of the match. Michaels' second half treble included a third on 85 minutes – a header from a corner from Richard Slater. A free-kick from Anthony Mendel plus one from Jamie Fox sealed the victory. Chigwell scored all the goals with Neasden's consolation coming through an own goal.
OAKWOOD 2, NORSTAR 'A' 3
Norstar claimed one of the results of the day with goals from Josh Green and Jeremy Elster (2) giving them the points at Parmiters.
WOODFORD WANDERERS 0, MONTANA BOCA UNITED 4
Montana claimed one of the results of the day with Josh Marlow, Gary Cohen, James Sandler and Simon Lindall on target in a surprisingly one-sided contest at Redbridge Sports Centre.
TEMPLE FORTUNE 'A' 2, SOUTHGATE HARMEN 'B' 2
A Paul Stein double helped Harmen 'B' make it two games without defeat as they came away from The Hive with a point against Fortune. Rob Benson and Matt Gilbery were on target for the hosts.
Harmen boss Marc Cohen told JC Sport: "The positives from today is that we are creating a huge amount of goal-scoring opportunities, however we have to start taking them. Full credit to the Temple Fortune goalkeeper (Steven Murad) who was in superb form for them and got them their point today. I also have to praise my boys for bouncing back on two occasions after conceding."

MSFL FOURTH DIVISION
ATHLETIC BILBAUM 7, BOCA JEWNIORS 1
The Baums were in seventh heaven as they maintained their promotion charge with an impressive win over Boca. A treble from Julius Judah plus two from Edward Green and one apiece from player-manager Mark Pasha and Eli Lew finished the job.
Boca's consolation came through Levitt.
ATHLETICO FINCHLEY 2, BRADY MACCABI 'B' 6
A fab four-goal salvo from James Joseph boosted Brady's title hopes as they hit Finchley for six. Reiss Mogilner completed the rout with a quality double as the Brady bunch fought back from a goal down to win in style. Finchley's goals came through Harley Goulding and Dan Goodman.
FC TEAM 'C' 0, SPEC 2
Two goals from captain marvel Ashley Burns steered injury-hampered SPEC to victory over FC Team C.
NORTH LONDON RAIDERS 'C' 5, JEWVENTUS 0
Efforts from Darren Russell, Toby Katz, Hart Sandrove and Matt Keston enabled the rampant Raiders to make it three out of three with a five-star display against Jewve.
BRIXTON OLD BOYS 'B' 2, TEMPLE FORTUNE 'B' 11
Fortune kept up their encouraging league start to the season as they racked up this emphatic win thanks to goals by Terry Jeffries (5), Joey Glynne (4), Ben David and David Sawyer. Dan Sherman scored both of Brixton's goals.

MASTERS SECOND DIVISION
Last season's champions, Glenthorne 'B', rose to the top of the pile with a 5-1 victory over Hendon Harriers, courtesy of doubles from Peter Sollosi and Sid Shaw, plus Stewart Block's effort. Andy Diamond scored Harriers' consolation. Hot on their heels are EDRS, who dispatched Temple Fortune 7-3. Martin Seifert helped himself to a hat-trick, with Simon Lawrence, Steve Krieger, Mark Kingston and Gary Shaw completing the scoring. Yali Mamouri scored all three for Fortune. Meanwhile, Lions beat Ashlodge 3-1 thanks to goals from David Pollock, David Kyte and Marc Morris. John Seigal netted for Ashlodge. Brady 'B' maintained their challenge with a 5-0 win over Glenthorne 'C'. Roger Kay and Richard Horne scored two each, with Jonny Cohen also on target.
