NO LAMBS TO THE SLAUGHTER AS LIONS ARE GIVEN A SCARE
THE SECOND TEAM GIVE DIVISION TWO LML 'B' A REAL RUN FOR THEIR MONEY BEFORE LOSING NARROWLY IN THE CA CUP

FORTUNETELLER

News, views and everything TFFC by Nigel Kyte

Welcome to issue 11 of the newsletter
Full marks to our gallant SECOND TEAM who gave London Maccabi Lions 'B' a very close game at Gosling Sports Centre in the opening round of the Cyril Anekstein Cup, losing 2-1. Although ousted from the Cup, the Seconds the Lions a real scare. In an evenly contested first half, a battling Fortune side matched their opponents despite the two division gap between the teams and went into the break on level terms at 0-0. The Lions took the lead early in the second half and scored a second quickly after. Despite the disappointment, Fortune continued to press and were rewarded when DAVE SAWYER rose high to head home a delicious Jonathan Cohen cross with five mins remaining.

Second Team admin secretary Adam Glekin said: "Despite the defeat, I cannot fault the work rate and on another day we might have sneaked a result. I doubt that a neutral observer would have realised that there was a two-division divide between the teams, and if we keep performing the way we have started the season I think we'll be very successful".

Both the FIRST TEAM and OLD BOYS TEAM had the morning off. Next week, the Firsts take their turn in the Cyril Anekstein Cup first round, meet Second Division FAITHFOLD 'C' at Gosling.

UPWARDS AND ONWARDS
Last week, the Club had reason to deal with an internal disciplinary matter relating to the Second Team's opening Division 4 match against FC Team 'C' on Sunday 4th September. Certain irregularities were brought to my attention last Monday which required an investigation. There is an outstanding case still to be determined by the League so we cannot comment too much about it, other than to say that both Terry Jeffries and Gavin Levy of the Second Team accepted suspensions of one match and fines of £55 each for their part in what happened.

The Club offence was Schedule of Fines No.13 which reads "Causing any other fine to be imposed on the Club by the League, another competition or London FA, for whatever reason, and/or failing to comply with any matchday or administrative requirement, whether or not a fine is imposed". The Club's Management acted in compliance with Rule 9(a) which stipulates "The Management Committee shall at any time have the power to fine and/or suspend, or expel a Club Member or any other player whose conduct has been objectionable, or in breach of the Rules and Regulations or Conditions of Membership of the Club, or who has brought the name or reputation of the Club into disrepute."

Both players have unreservedly apologied for their actions and served their one match bans today, missing the CA Cup tie against London Maccabi Lions. The Club's online disciplinary table has been updated to reflect these sanctions. It must be pointed out that any repetition of this kind of offence from ANY member will result in expulsion from the Club. After a couple of days filled with much discussion and deliberation, I sent out an email to the Second Team which concluded with: "I am pleased that this matter has finally been resolved and together, as a Club, we can now move upwards and onwards."

RED CARD CAMPAIGN DEFINITELY STARTS THIS WEEK!
You may have seen the 'SIMPLE MATHS' jpeg circulated a couple of Fridays ago. The Club will be making a point of drumming into all our players that abusing a match official will NOT be tolerated and will earn any offender a ban of FOUR MATCHES. A reminder will be emailed every Friday to everyone in the shape of examples of things you could say to a referee and be sent off. Last week the campaign should have started but because of ongoing admin issues, has been delayed until the week coming. Some ofmthe jpegs you will find amusing but the serious message is always the same – ABUSE THE REF = FOUR MATCH BAN.

BE THERE ON TUESDAY!
MIDWEEK TRAINING
CONTINUES ON TUESDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER AT LONDON MACCABI LIONS SPORTS GROUND, ROWLEY LANE, BARNET, AT 9PM.
As you know, the Club has booked a third of the excellent London Maccabi Lions 3G pitch on Tuesday evenings at 9pm for an hour so please make every effort to attend. There will be a separate fee for training which can be paid in two installments or as 'pay and play' on the night (which will a dearer way of paying). Please email Jack Morris to confirm your attendance and to arrange your installment payment. The 3G takes moulded boots or astro trainers but not screw-in studs. If you are attending, please be there ON TIME.

LEE SPELLS OUT THE NEED TO ATTEND TRAINING
Extracted from an email by Lee Fegam First Team Secretary: "With regards to training, we have over 20 players signed up for the First Team this season and I hate to state the obvious but only 11 players can start a game for us. SO if you want to keep your place in the team or work your way into the team then TRAINING is a chance to impress the management. If you have not already paid for the first instalments of training then please do so THIS WEEK. Please don’t make it easy for us to not include you in our squad for Sunday’s game. Get on board and show us that you want to play every week and keep up this winning momentum."

WELCOME TO ALL OUR NEWCOMERS!
A warm welcome to each and every new member who has recently joined the Club. It's great to have 'new blood' coming to this established Club and I hope that your respective team-mates will make you feel at home. Please make every effort to attend the training, details in the red box above. Good luck to all of our new players – and everyone for that matter!

PUNCTUALITY IS A MUST
The Old Boys did not get off to the best start in the opening friendly last week against Clayhall both on and off the field of play. Several players arrived late. This is a timely reminder that you are requested to be at the venue NO LATER than 30 minutes before the kick-off. Anything after that is LATE. This applies to all three of our teams and fines will be imposed on repeated late-comers. Lateness affects the team preparation and is NOT acceptable. Please take the time to click here and read the information carefully. LATE PLAYERS will be named and shamed on this page in future.

THE TFN FANTASY LEAGUE, 2011/12: YOU CAN STILL ENTER
A reminder that we are running a new season of TFN FANTASY LEAGUE for the 2011/12 season, which will be our SEVENTH annual competition. It's easy to enter on the fantasy.premierleague.com website. In choosing a suitable name, you MUST use Upper and Lower case for both YOUR name (as manager) and the TEAM name – 'Super Stars' is correct, 'super stars' or 'SUPER STARS' is wrong. Any manager or team name which does not follow this will be deleted. Once you have formed your team and chosen the squad, go to LEAGUES, click on 'Join a league', then 'Private league' and enter the following Private League code: 57173-21943. There willl be a trophy at the end of the season and all-time listing on the Club' website as a CHAMPION! Last season we had a record entry of 37 people so come on, give it a go!

NEW DISCIPLINARY PAGE ON WEBSITE
To maintain a record of suspensions, I have introduced a new feature on the website which is as clear-cut to follow as anything. The disciplinary table will show each player sent off and suspended alongside a week-by-week calendar, with suspensions clearly marked in addition to fines, yellow cards, payments received or outstanding. And Club fines will be logged as well. The table provides a very useful reference for Team Secretaries monitoring a player's availability when suspended. To get to the page, click on any of the Team Page links shown above in the 'Fortune Pre-Seasons' panel, and then click on 'DISCIPLINARY TABLE'.

TFFC CLUB MEMBERSHIP TOTALS 62
I would like to thank each and every player who has joined the Club this season to play for our three teams. Some have joined as Full Members, some as Honoraries and some on a Casual basis. The majority have paid their fees but a few have not and they will soon be removed from the list if they don't settle up. However, that does not detract from the excellent figure of SIXTY-TWO members who have returned forms.

MACCABI FOOTBALL REVIEW
MSFL review by Danny Caro, www.thejc.com/msfl
MSFL FIRST DIVISION
CHIGWELL ATHLETIC 4, SOUTHGATE HARMEN 'B' 3
Two goals from Glenn Michaels helped Chigwell register their first win of the season as they edged past Harmen B following a thriller in Walthamstow. Craig Pearl and Daniel Castle clinched the points. Chigwell were 2-0 up inside 15 minutes with Michaels slotting home followed by a crashing volley from Castle from a Michael Witzenfeld corner. Harmen's goals came through David Marcus, Josh Sasto and Dan Amram.
MONTANA BOCA UNITED 2, OAKWOOD 2
Promotion rivals Montana and Oakwood shared the points following a well-contested 2-2 draw at the Hive. Gary Cohen and Mitch Green were the goal men for Montana. Oakwood's strikes came from Matt Geey and an own goal.

MSFL FOURTH DIVISION
ATHLETIC BILBAUM 2, NORTH LONDON RAIDERS 'C' 4
Strikes from Adam Newton, Matt Greene, Rob Samuelson and a stunner from James Franks helped North London Raiders C make it two out of two following a six-goal thriller against Bilbaum in Hampstead. Bilbaum's scorers were Ed Green and player-manager Mark Pasha.
BOCA JEWNIORS 1, FC TEAM 'C' 10
Michael Myers' FC Team went goal crazy with Rob Sanford, David Cohen and Max Worth helping themselves to two apiece. Jamie Cooper, Matt Sheldon, Dean Marks and Eitan Ben-Zion completed the rout.
BRIXTON OLD BOYS 'B' 8, ATHLETICO FINCHLEY 5
A hat-trick of Brixton 'A' striker Jamie Kent inspired their 'B' team to victory in an extraordinary 13-goal thriller against Athletico Finchley.
