USEFUL DRAW FOR FIRST TEAM AT FAIRLOP
WHILST SECOND TEAM RETURN TO WINNING WAYS IN THE LEAGUE

FORTUNETELLER

News, views and everything TFFC by Nigel Kyte

Welcome to issue 16 of the newsletter
The FIRST TEAM returned to league action after last week's Peter Morrison Trophy tie with a journey to Fairlop to meet unbeaten REDBRIDGE 'B'. Lee Fegan's team returned to north-west London with a well-earned point against a team which previously had a 100% record. PAUL WALKER fired Fortune ahead but the home side equalised in the second half. Said First Team assistant manager Jack Morris: "It was a really good battling point. They were a very strong team who gave us many problems but we defended extremely well as a team. Special mention to Steven Murad who was excellent in goal, making quite a few fantastic saves, especially one low to his left in the last few minutes." Enthusing about an outstanding performance by Brett Stead in particular, Jack added: "I would like to nominate Brett for team of the week, along with Steven of course."

The
SECOND TEAM met BRIXTON OLD BOYS 'B' for the second time in a matter of weeks and completed a good league double thanks to a close 2-1 victory at Gosling Sports Park. Disregarding the 11-2 win in the first encounter, a rather depleted Fortune team were made to fight all the way to secure the result against a much improved Brixton side compared to the first fixture. ADAM GLEKIN and JOEY GLYNNE with a penalty were the goalscorers. Second Team assistant manager Adam Glekin said: "We were missing a few key men today but I thought we shaded it and deserved the win. It was a real team effort and shows we've got depth in the squad which should stand us in good stead for the rest of the season."

The
OLD BOYS TEAM had the morning off.

CENTURIES FOR GIDEON AND RICHARD

Amongst the numerous lists of TFFC stats I need to update as each season ends is the one relating to players' appearances. It's a time-consuming task to keep tabs on every player but during the week I managed to update it to include last season's stats and also the current campaign. I am pleased to say that GIDEON WETRIN passed his century of games for Temple Fortune last season (my apologies to him for the delay!) Gideon, a tough-tackling no nonsense defender who first played for the Club in 2001, becomes the 48th player to have made 100 appearances. Also achieving the ton-up is tenacious midfielder RICHARD COOPER who reached his century more recently. Richard, who made 17 appearances in last season's MSFL Division 2 title-winning season, is the 49th 100 Club member so congratulations to both of them! They will receive commemorative awards to mark their fine achievements at the Club's Awards Lunch next June.

Other notable milestones which are fast approaching are DEAN INGRAM's 200th appearance for Temple Fortune - he is on 198 games - whilst the daddy of all appearance records for the Club is nearing an incredible 700 matches... co-founder PETER KYTE is very close to passing this amazing achievement having made his debut for the Club as far back as 1970, just two years after TFFC's formation! He has played some 215 games more than the second-placed player in the all-time appearances list, namely JONATHAN DAVIDOFF. More on Dean and Peter when they reach their personal milestones in the coming weeks.

So who is in line to be the 50th member of The 100 Club? A special commemorative award will be heading the way of the player who will be our fiftiest centurion. At the moment, barring injury or being dropped, JONATHAN COHEN (94 games) looks as though he will be the history-maker in this respect! I say being dropped because next in line after Jonathan is none other than the First Team manager LEE FEGAN who is on 88 games! He needs a dozen games to reach 100 apps but I cannot see him denying JC his status-to-be of being our 50th century-maker! RICHARD JAY and GAVIN LEVY are on 82 and 80 respectively in the chasing pack.

The 100 Club list has been updated to show our most recent centurions – a big well done to GIDEON WETRIN and RICHARD COOPER! Click on the link in the next item for the full list.

PUNCTUALITY ESSENTIAL
Another reminder that you are requested to be at the venue NO LATER than 30 minutes before the kick-off. Anything after that is LATE. This applies to all three of our teams and fines will be imposed on repeated late-comers. Please take the time to click here and read the information carefully. LATE PLAYERS will continue to be named and shamed on this page in future and fines/suspensions will be imposed as necessary.

HELPING YOU TO NAVIGATE THE TFFC WEBSITE
A member of the First Team, who is into his second season with the Club, emailed me last week asking where can he find the fixtures. I realise that the website is quite large and that if you are not familiar with its navigation it can take time to locate what you want to see. But for basic information such as fixtures I do not think it is rocket science to locate it! I like to think that all members know where certain sections of info are, such as fixtures, appearances and results, and the weekly newsletter. At the bottom of this issue are some questions and answers to help you navigate the website so if you are one who struggles to find the basics, please scroll down and read the information which you may find helpful.

INTER-CLUB QUIZ ROUND ONE COMPLETED
Sixty-four Club Members and certain invited guests contested Round One of this season's tenth Quiz competition which was held on Sunday 9th October. The Round One results (and Round Two pairings) can be found here, whilst the main Quiz page is on here.

Round Two is being held in two weeks' time, on Sunday 30th October. The onus is on the participant to take part and submit his or her answers – including a tie-break answer – by the deadline given. His or her tally of correct answers will be matched against the score of his or her opponent and the person with the highest points will progress into the next round. Should someone not bother to submit an entry by the deadline stipulated, his or her score will be recorded as nil; if both players in any one tie do not enter, one will progress by a toss of a coin. If two participants who submit entries are level on points, the tie-break will come into operation. The competition will continue with paired-off ties until two eventually reach the Final.

The questions in Round Two will be harder! So check to see who your opponent is and look out for the Round Two email which will be sent in two week's time. Please make every effort to take part!

TWITTER AWAY WITH TFFC!
For regularly updated news on anything 'official' about the TFFC worth sharing with Club Members, you will now find the Club 'tweeting' on http://twitter.com/YellowsAndReds! Please connect with TFFC because next season this is where you will find access to breaking Club news, such as fixtures, results and anything else going on.

NEW DISCIPLINARY PAGE ON WEBSITE
To maintain a record of suspensions, I have introduced a new feature on the website which is as clear-cut to follow as anything. The disciplinary table will show each player sent off and suspended alongside a week-by-week calendar, with suspensions clearly marked in addition to fines, yellow cards, payments received or outstanding. And Club fines will be logged as well. The table provides a very useful reference for Team Secretaries monitoring a player's availability when suspended. To get to the page, click on any of the Team Page links shown above in the 'Fortune Pre-Seasons' panel, and then click on 'DISCIPLINARY TABLE'.

FORTUNE DRAW MICHAEL'S OLD TEAM IN PMT
The First Team will meet Second Division CAMDEN PARK in the Second Round of the Peter Morrison Trophy. Midfielder Michael Goldberg used to play for Camden Park and will relish the chance to put one over his old team! The two teams last met in season 2001/02, also in Round 2. Camden Park were then in Division 1 whilst Fortune were two divisions below but our First Team took them all the way to penalties following a 1-1 draw after extra time, Camden winning 4-3 after the shoot-out.

MACCABI FOOTBALL REVIEW
MSFL review by Danny Caro, www.thejc.com/msfl
MSFL FIRST DIVISION
NORSTAR 'A' 5, OAKWOOD 2
Norstar claimed an excellent 5-2 win over Oakwood on the 3G at the Ark Academy with goals from Simon Perlmutter (2), Adam Jason and Adam Kaldor.
REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE 'B' 1, TEMPLE FORTUNE 'A' 1
High-flying Redbridge 'B' dropped points for the first time this season following a battling draw against Temple Fortune at Fairlop. Paul Walker put Fortune ahead but Dan Orgel cancelled it out with a cool finish in the second half.
SOUTHGATE HARMEN 'B' 3, MONTANA BOCA UNITED 2
Alex Bourne and Ben Rosenblatt (2) were the scorers as Harmen B won a five-goal thriller against Montana in Southgate. James Sandler fired a double for Montana.

MSFL FOURTH DIVISION
ATHLETIC BILBAUM 3, FC TEAM 'C' 0
The Bilbaum boys did the business again with Sam Roth (2) and Ben Bell the goal heroes against FC Team 'C'.
JEWVENTUS 4, BOCA JEWNIORS 1
A hat-trick from Sommeck plus one from James Alexander led Jewventus to their first win of the season as they proved too strong for struggling Boca.
NORTH LONDON RAIDERS 'C' 6, ATHLETICO FINCHLEY 1
Coming back from an early deficit, braces from Ben Hart and Darren Russell saw leaders North London Raiders 'C' outclass Athletico Finchley at Hatfield. Rob Samuelson and Matt Bennett completed the rout.
TEMPLE FORTUNE 'B' 2, BRIXTON OLD BOYS 'B' 1
Temple Fortune 'B' got back to winning ways with strikes from Adam Glekin and a Joey Glynne penalty enough to see off Brixton, who had a player sent off for handling on the goal-line.

MASTERS SECOND DIVISION
Awaiting Masters results.

TFFC TRAINING ON TUESDAY: PLEASE ATTEND!
MIDWEEK TRAINING CONTINUES ON TUESDAY AT LONDON MACCABI LIONS SPORTS GROUND, ROWLEY LANE, BARNET, AT 9PM. As you know, the Club has booked a third of the excellent London Maccabi Lions 3G pitch on Tuesday evenings at 9pm for an hour so please make every effort to attend. There will be a separate fee for training which can be paid in two installments or as 'pay and play' on the night (which will a dearer way of paying). Please email Jack Morris to confirm your attendance and to arrange your installment payment. The 3G takes moulded boots or astro trainers but not screw-in studs. If you are attending, please be there ON TIME.

ABUSE THE REF MEANS A FOUR MATCH BAN
The Club will be making a point of drumming into all our players that abusing a match official will NOT be tolerated and will earn any offender a ban of FOUR MATCHES. A reminder will be emailed every Friday to everyone in the shape of examples of things you could say to a referee and be sent off. Last week the campaign should have started but because of ongoing admin issues, has been delayed until the week coming. Some ofmthe jpegs you will find amusing but the serious message is always the same – ABUSE THE REF = FOUR MATCH BAN.
