Welcome to issue 12 of the newsletter
The FIRST TEAM surpringly lost 3-2 after extra time to Faithfold 'C' in the first round of the Cyril Anekstein Cup at Gosling Sports Park. Faithfold survived considerable pressure and were fortunate on numerous occasions. But they broke to lead 1-0 and then 2-1 after an equaliser. The First Team leveled again but couldn't put away chance after chance. David Garston, who kept goal for the Hoops, had a blinder, whilst Fortune hit the bar four times. ROB BENSON and MICHAEL GOLDBERG scored for the Firsts. Faithfold snatched the winner in the last minute of extra time with penalties looming.

Commented Lee Fegan: "We put them under so much pressure, hit the bar a few times and missed two one-on-ones. And their goalkeeper was unbelievable. Some sloppy defending gifted them goals and we just couldn't find the net when we should have. So all in all a very disappointing exit but full credit to Faithfold. They took their chances and rode their luck, but that's football! We wish them well in the next round."

The OLD BOYS TEAM colleted their first win of the season and two welcomed league points, after defeating GLENTHORNE UNITED 'C' at the Thomas Parmiters Sports Centre. Moroccan striker YALI MAMOURI scored a decisive hat-trick whilst the otehr goal came from JEREMY FESS. A tremendous opening win for the Old Boys and hopefully one of many more to come this season.

FIXTURE CHANGE FOR SECOND TEAM
The Second Team will play away to BRIXTON OLD BOYS 'B' this coming Sunday and not FC Team 'C' at home as previously advertised.

MARSHSIDE JOIN THE MASTERS LEAGUE
Former MSFL team MARSHSIDE have joined the Masters League and will take part in Division Two. This is the first time for many years that Marshside have reformed under their original name, having previously taken part in the Masters League as Marshside & Glenthorne.

THE NAME GAME: FORTUNATELY FORTUNE!
With so many new players having joined the ranks this season, it's worth educating those unfamiliar with the Club's name. Just like Crystal Palace are called 'Palace' for short, we are called 'FORTUNE' when shortening the name and NEVER 'Temple'. So PLEASE do not yell out stuff like 'come on, Temple' when trying to encourage your team-mates. Use 'FORTUNE' each and every time. The Club's nickname, by the way, is 'The Fortunates' but 'The Yellows' will suffice too! As for our motto, of course it can only be 'Fortune Favours The Brave!'

As a reminder, just hum this Spurs-like song in your head and you can't go wrong! "We are Fortune, Temple Fortune, we are Fortune of The Hive, we are Fortune, Temple Fortune, we are Fortune of The Hive!" With apologies to the Second Team but somehow Gosling doesn't work as well!

RED CARD CAMPAIGN OFF AND RUNNING
The Club will be making a point of drumming into all our players that abusing a match official will NOT be tolerated and will earn any offender a ban of FOUR MATCHES. A reminder will be emailed every Friday to everyone in the shape of examples of things you could say to a referee and be sent off. Last week the campaign should have started but because of ongoing admin issues, has been delayed until the week coming. Some ofmthe jpegs you will find amusing but the serious message is always the same – ABUSE THE REF = FOUR MATCH BAN.

TRAINING ON TUESDAY
MIDWEEK TRAINING
CONTINUES ON TUESDAY AT LONDON MACCABI LIONS SPORTS GROUND, ROWLEY LANE, BARNET, AT 9PM.
As you know, the Club has booked a third of the excellent London Maccabi Lions 3G pitch on Tuesday evenings at 9pm for an hour so please make every effort to attend. There will be a separate fee for training which can be paid in two installments or as 'pay and play' on the night (which will a dearer way of paying). Please email Jack Morris to confirm your attendance and to arrange your installment payment. The 3G takes moulded boots or astro trainers but not screw-in studs. If you are attending, please be there ON TIME.

LEE SPELLS OUT THE NEED TO ATTEND TRAINING
Extracted from an email by Lee Fegam First Team Secretary: "With regards to training, we have over 20 players signed up for the First Team this season and I hate to state the obvious but only 11 players can start a game for us. SO if you want to keep your place in the team or work your way into the team then TRAINING is a chance to impress the management. If you have not already paid for the first instalments of training then please do so THIS WEEK. Please don’t make it easy for us to not include you in our squad for Sunday’s game. Get on board and show us that you want to play every week and keep up this winning momentum."

WELCOME TO ALL OUR NEWCOMERS!
A warm welcome to each and every new member who has recently joined the Club. It's great to have 'new blood' coming to this established Club and I hope that your respective team-mates will make you feel at home. Please make every effort to attend the training, details in the red box above. Good luck to all of our new players – and everyone for that matter!

PUNCTUALITY IS A MUST
The Old Boys did not get off to the best start in the opening friendly last week against Clayhall both on and off the field of play. Several players arrived late. This is a timely reminder that you are requested to be at the venue NO LATER than 30 minutes before the kick-off. Anything after that is LATE. This applies to all three of our teams and fines will be imposed on repeated late-comers. Lateness affects the team preparation and is NOT acceptable. Please take the time to click here and read the information carefully. LATE PLAYERS will be named and shamed on this page in future.

THE TFN FANTASY LEAGUE, 2011/12: YOU CAN STILL ENTER
A reminder that we are running a new season of TFN FANTASY LEAGUE for the 2011/12 season, which will be our SEVENTH annual competition. It's easy to enter on the fantasy.premierleague.com website. In choosing a suitable name, you MUST use Upper and Lower case for both YOUR name (as manager) and the TEAM name – 'Super Stars' is correct, 'super stars' or 'SUPER STARS' is wrong. Any manager or team name which does not follow this will be deleted. Once you have formed your team and chosen the squad, go to LEAGUES, click on 'Join a league', then 'Private league' and enter the following Private League code: 57173-21943. There willl be a trophy at the end of the season and all-time listing on the Club' website as a CHAMPION! Last season we had a record entry of 37 people so come on, give it a go!

NEW DISCIPLINARY PAGE ON WEBSITE
To maintain a record of suspensions, I have introduced a new feature on the website which is as clear-cut to follow as anything. The disciplinary table will show each player sent off and suspended alongside a week-by-week calendar, with suspensions clearly marked in addition to fines, yellow cards, payments received or outstanding. And Club fines will be logged as well. The table provides a very useful reference for Team Secretaries monitoring a player's availability when suspended. To get to the page, click on any of the Team Page links shown above in the 'Fortune Pre-Seasons' panel, and then click on 'DISCIPLINARY TABLE'.

Chigwell Athletic, my tips for the title, romped to victory at the Hive with Glenn Michaels, Paul Lenchner, Daniel Castle, Antony Mendel and Jon Swead finding the net against Montana. The visitors wrapped up the points with an excellent second half display after the match was locked at 2-2 at half time.Montana's goals came through Darren Cohen and Simon Hecker.
NORTH WEST NEASDEN 'B' 0, OAKWOOD 3
Strikes from James Abrams, Dan Ash and Adam Levine helped Oakwood maintain their excellent start with a surprisingly easy win at Neasden seconds.
SOUTHGATE HARMEN 'B' 1, WOODFORD WANDERERS 0
A second half penalty from Dave Marcus earned Harmen B their first win under new boss Marc Cohen, as they overcame a powerful Woodford team at Ashmole School.

The match was halted with 15 minutes remaining when SPEC's Elliott Wallis suffered a disclocated ankle, torn ligaments and a break to both his ankle and fibula following a 50-50. Both clubs along with the JC wishes Elliott a full and speedy recovery.
