ISSUE 31 SUNDAY 3RD FEBRUARY 2013
3-1 VICTORY ENDS 4-MATCH WINLESS RUN IN THE LEAGUE
FIRST TEAM SECURE FIRST LEAGUE VICTORY SINCE MID-OCTOBER

FORTUNETELLER

News, views and everything TFFC by Nigel Kyte

Welcome to issue 31. The First Team ended a run of four matches without a win in the MSFL Division One by defeating Southgate Harmen by 3-1 at The Hive.
This was an excellent victory against a team placed midway in the table on the same number of points and was the First Team's first win since the 4-2 success away to Shirley Park on 14th October. In the four games after that win, Fortune drew three and lost one (to Camden Park last month). Against Southgate Harmen, Kane Gilbery, Dan Orgel and captain Brett Stead all scored. The First Team's record is now won 3, drawn 3 and lost 4 of the 10 league fixtures played.

The welcomed win gave First Team manager Lee Fegan the perfect birthday present, so many happy returns go to him! He said: "Delighted with the result in a match we had to win. I'm glad we eased away the cobwebs after the defeat against Camden and this gives the lads the perfect tonic for our trip to Manchester next week."

The SECOND TEAM and OLD BOYS TEAM did not play.

MANCHESTER NEXT FOR THE FIRST TEAM
Next Sunday, half a dozen or so cars will be zooming north to Manchester for Fortune's Peter Morrsion Trophy last 16 tie against SOUTH MANCHESTER SPORTS.

SMS were formed in 1948 and next year celebrate their 65th year of existance. They have two senior teams and eight junior teams. Their first team – whom Fortune meet in the PMT – play in the Manchester Accountants Football League and the second team play in the MJSL (Manchester Jewish Soccer League). The 1st team beat past PMT winners Glasgow Maccabi in an earlier round. South Manchester's colours are blue and black vertical stripes, black shorts.

CUT OUT THE DISSENT: KEEP IT ZIPPED
The fine for being cautioned for dissent remains £16. Everyone has seen the "Keep It Zipped" campaign so there is no excuse for collecting cautions for back-chatting the referee.

FLOODLIT MIDWEEK TRAINING AT MIDDLESEX UNIVERSITY
Resuming in early January, floodlit training continues at Middlesex University in Greyhound Hill, Hendon, on Thursday nights between 8.30pm and 10pm for ALL Club Members. At £55 per week (the most we have ever paid for training), it is very important that as many players from the First and Second Teams attend as possible – and, of course, Old Boys are welcome too.

We are looking at ONLY £2 PER WEEK for those who pay a tenner subs on a Sunday morning (which will make life much easier regarding collection and not having to give too much change etc). £2 for an hour and a half of recreation is exceptional value in anyone's book so you would be foolish to miss out on this opportunity to train and enjoy midweek football with TFFC – and get FITTER at the same time. For those who attend training 'casually', the fee is likely to be £4 or £5 per session.

If you wish to be there, you can pay a tenner in subs each time you play on a Sunday (far better value) or bring a fiver on the night and hand to Lee or Jonathan Cohen. Obviously we need good attendance to cover the weekly cost. Please email Lee or JC and let them know that you intend to be there on Thursday (to give them an idea of numbers).

M(S)FL REVIEW
WEEKLY RESULTS ROUND-UP OF TEMPLE FORTUNE'S MSFL DIVISIONS (courtesy of www.thejc.com)
DIVISION ONE
GLENTHORNE UNITED A 1 HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB B 1
A goal from Dan Lassman was not enough to boost Glenthorne's title hopes as they were held by a resolute Hendon team at Ford Sports & Social. Hendon's goal came through striker Ra Noe.
NORTH WEST NEASDEN A 2 SHIRLEY PARK 5
A double from top-scorer Jamie Kent boosted Shirley Park's title hopes as they overwhelmed Neasden A. Further strikes from Dave Lusman, Stefan Benfredj and Dan Oade finished the job.
TEMPLE FORTUNE A 3 SOUTHGATE HARMEN
Goals by Kane Gilbery, Dan Orgel and skipper Brett Stead gave Fortune a first league win in five on the 3G at The Hive.

DIVISION THREE
AC MILL HILL versus L’EQUIPE – Match abandoned after 75 minutes due to a serious injury.
AC Mill Hill's match against L'Equipe was called to a halt with 15 minutes remaining after player-manager Joe Levy picked up a serious injury. The home side were leading 2-1 when the injury occured.
HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB C 6 TOTTENHAM CHUTSPAH 3
Ben Slukis was the hat-trick hero as Hendon C hit Tottenham Chutspah for six in West Hendon. Alex Elf, former Fortune goalkeeper Adam Glekin and Ben David scored the others.
LOUGHTON ORIENT 1 FC TEAM C 10
FC Team maintained their title push with this emphatic win. Jaimie Sinclair scored the hosts consolation.
OAKWOOD B 1 FAITHFOLD C 0
Oakwood went joint-top of the table thanks to this hard-fought win over David Garson's side. Ben Polak scored the vital strike, finishing well after a wonderful cross from Ben Myers was headed on by Matt Geey.

MASTERS REVIEW
In the Nathan Horwitz MMFL Division 2 Cup, sponsored by Atlantis Travel, goals from Perry Somers and Garry Starr gave St John’s Wood Tigers a 2-1 win over the winners for the past two seasons, London Maccabi Lions, despite Marc Morris’s first-half strike for Lions.
In Division 1, two fine goals from Nick Collins gave Brady A a narrow 2-1 win over North London Raiders, for whom Wayne Davidson netted. And a solitary goal from Steve Faye was enough to give leaders Glenthorne A the points from their encounter with Waldaf Town, extending their lead at the top of the table to four points.
In Division 2, in the match refereed by Nigel Kyte, Brady B and Glenthorne B played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at the University of Herts in Hatfield. Brian Deal scored twice to give Brady a 2-0 lead before Jason Levy pulled one back with 25 minutes left. Then Darren Leventhal was red carded shortly afterwards for Glenthorne but they still managed to draw level through Levy and then take the lead with a Neil Richards header. But with just five minutes to go, Mike Lee hit a 20-yard equaliser to give Brady a share of the spoils.
And there was late drama as Glenthorne C battled to a first half lead against EDRS with goals from Gary Swerner and Nick Pitch, only to see EDRS stage a second half fightback with goals from Nigel Conway and Tony Platman, and a last-minute winner direct from a corner, from player manager Ian Leader, which took EDRS to the top of Division 2.
