On Thursday 2nd February 2006, former Temple Fortune player ALAN MATTEY sadly passed away after a lengthy battle against cancer.
On behalf of the Club, Lynne and Nigel Kyte attended the funeral at Bushey Lane Cemetery on the same day. Said Lynne, the Club's General Secretary at the time: "With great sadness I learned that Alan had died today. He was funny with a heart of gold and only 40 years old. He played for us with his possee of friends and their enthuisiasm was never short. I saw Alan a few months ago in Mill Hill Broadway. He was tanned and his usual chirpy, cheerful self. At his funeral a big crowd turned out to pay their respects to a really lovely guy. He was a real charming gentleman. Gone but not forgotten."
Making his debut in 1987, Alan spent three seasons with Temple Fortune and sponsored two full playing kits through his company Ultratown. As an accomplished full back, he played 34 games for the First Team, scoring once, and 3 games for the Seconds.
He leaves his wife Leanne and three children.
