THE TFFC FOUNDERS' SHIELD
PERFORMANCE CRITERIA
A contingency plan was adopted by the Founders Nigel and Peter Kyte in 2004 after the folding of the Second Team for situations where the Founders' Shield match could not be played during a season. It was devised to determine the winners rather than leave a gap in the long-running inter-Club series.

The performance criteria compares goalscoring between the MSFL XI and the MMFL XI over the course of the season, the number of goals scored by both teams on a weekly basis being used to determine the outcome. Only competitive matches played on the same Sunday apply. If only one team plays on any given Sunday, the result is ineligible.

The following points system applies to the weekly goalscoring comparisons – one team scoring more goals – 2 points, both teams scoring same number of goals – 1 point per team. The team totalling the highest number of points at the end of the season will be declared winners of the Founders' Shield. Should the teams tie on points, the greater goal difference over the course of the season will determine the winner.
