TFFC MANAGERIAL RECORDS

The tables below include the estimated managerial record of every Team Manager and Team Secretary (in most seasons) to have represented Temple Fortune Football Club since the Club first joined Sunday League football in 1976.

Matches taken into consideration include league, cup ties and official friendlies played by the Club, but exclude unofficial games which do not fulfil the criteria of an official match. This includes small-sided competitions played by the Club.

The Team Secretary was effectively the Team Manager in all seasons where a separate Manager was not appointed. Where a Team Manager was present with a Team Secretary in office on the Management Committee for that particular season, only the Team Manager's record counts for the purpose of the table below.

Because no actual statistics have ever been kept of managerial records, the figures in the table have been calculated by taking the number of matches played by a team in any one season and deducting 10% for unavailability across the board, giving an estimated number of matches managed by any named individual. The same applies to a Team Manager's wins record. Where fractions apply after the deductions, the nearest whole number counts. The criteria above has been applied to all managerial records throughout.

Some observations from the statistics below: The late Nick Waitsman, who as the Club's longest-serving manager, spent 17 seasons managing the three TFFC teams at different periods, covering an estimated 334 matches, followed by David Goldberg on around 215 matches. Garry Simpson did 185 or so matches as First Team manager. Andrew Batten remains the only manager who recorded a win percentage above 60% but he ran the First Team, who had a particularly good 1977/78 season, for just a single campaign.

We recognise that the tables below are not intended as 'merit' tables to compare managerial records; the primary objective is to record an archive of TFFC managers and the Club's everlasting gratitude for each individual's commitment towards the Temple Fortune Football Club. In this respect, a massive 'thank you' to everyone listed below.
